"print is not dead"

I know many people (me for one) who've been sad since the end of magazines like Domino and Blueprint. So imagine my delight when a friend told me about Anthology, a new shelter & lifestyle magazine by Anh-Minh Le and Meg Mateo Ilasco. From the preview of Anthology magazine's first issue to the cast of amazing talent on the masthead, I am beyond excited. I'm also in love with their premiere cover illustration by Kris Atomic and can't stop watching the genius stop-motion video by Thayer Allyson Gowdy. There will always be something very special about an actual print magazine, that I'll end up holding onto for years. Definitely signing up for my subscription today!

domino effect

The way it was. Vibrant pages & cover from domino magazine.
P
hotos by Melanie Acevedo

The future online magazine, Lonny. It's first issue features former domino editor-in-chief Deborah Needleman in her garden.

Like many other interior & decorating minded folks, I was heartbroken when domino magazine folded. So the news I saw today via WWD brings me great joy and hope for the future of magazines. The idea is a stellar one, a former domino editor teaming up with other greats in the industry to create an online-only shelter magazine, called Lonny. The name is a combination of New York and London and it's exciting launch is right around the corner on October 1st. Lonny will give similar features, tips and style like the old domino print mag, but with all viewing and shop linking done online...I'm on the edge of my seat in anticipation!

small stuff

I know it's going to be a pleasant day when it starts small. I subscribe (and so should you) to small magazine. It is a fabulous online magazine chock-full of finds for kids & their rooms, whimsically styled & photographed fashion stories and great illustrator showcases. Here are some top highlights from their autumn 2009 issue.

Sweetest styling & photography by wife/husband team Christine & Steven Visneau. Christine, along with Olivia Pintos-Lopez are the editors of the small magazine world.

I have long been an admirer of Lisa Golightly's paintings through her shop kiki & polly and her etsy store.

Love love the nests & butterfly print pillows. And of course I always need more felted rocks in my life!
